What is Adult Day Services?

Adult Day Services is a program of Grace Lutheran Foundation that assists elderly, disabled or memory impaired adults. Our program provides a friendly and secure environment while offering a variety of supportive services to our clients and families. Adult Day Services has been serving the Chippewa Valley since 1984. We are the most experienced and most affordable Adult Day Center in the area. Back to top

Mom has been alone for 10 years now since Dad passed away, how would going to Adult Day Services benefit her?

Everybody has the basic need to have meaning in their life. An outing to Adult Day Services would provide your mom with companionship, friendship, something to look forward to that will bring structure and socialization to her week. We also provide a nutritious breakfast lunch and snack in our program which are really appreciated. One client summed it up when she said, "The food tastes to much better when I have friends to share it with." Back to top

What would someone do all day when they become a client?

We provide a variety of fun and meaningful things to do daily. Most importantly, our clients become part of a positive and caring community. Each day is filled with a variety of interesting and therapeutic activities that clients do with their friends. By offering such a variety, there is always something to catch the interest of our clients. Back to top

What other services do you offer?

We also offer assistance with medication, showers, health monitoring, incontinence assistance, and client and caregiver information and referral. Back to top

What are the other people like?

Our clients are all facing different challenges, such as loneliness, forgetfulness, depression or the frailties of aging. Others face other obstacles like strokes, Alzheimer's Disease,MS, cognitive disabilities, Down's Syndrome as well as other illnesses or injuries. What each person has in common is the desire to have a pleasant place to be with friends and enjoy a special time together, while receiving the assistance they need for their personal needs. How do I know if Adult Day Services is right for me or my loved one?

Come in for a tour! See for yourself what goes on during the day and meet the other clients and the ADS staff. We are always happy to share about our program and answer any questions. If you do decide to try Adult Day Services, there may be a few weeks adjustment period until you or your loved one feels a part of the group. Back to top

My parent has Alzheimer's and occasionally wanders, how can you ensure his safety?

Adult Day Services has a Code Alert System in place that alerts the staff when someone goes out the door. A discreet nametag is placed on the person who is at risk for wandering which transmits a signal to the Code Alert System. Staff will then redirect the person back inside. Back to top

How can we pay for this?

Compared to the cost of other options, Adult Day Services is a bargain. There are some funds available for clients who qualify through the Eau Claire County Department of Human Services, including Alzheimer's Family and Caregiver Support Program funds. It is also covered for Community Health Partnership members who qualify, and private long term care insurance policies. Back to top

What about transportation?

Many of our clients use Abby Vans, local taxis, and family drivers so that they can attend. We are also located on a City of Eau Claire bus line for those individuals able to use the bus. Back to top

Do I have to commit to a certain number of days per month?

Our clients are able to schedule as few or as many days as they wish. We are able to be flexible in our scheduling to meet client and family needs. Back to top
